Patience: Refers to the ability to wait calmly, tolerate delays, and endure difficulties or suffering without complaining or becoming upset.
Why can't we wait for anything anymore? Why must everything and everyone always be in a rush? We live in a world where we're constantly on the move. Not only are we on the go, but our minds are racing as well. I'm Teresa and I'm going to explain why patience is a virtue and how God's intervention is always divine.
Many years ago, my commute to work and back home consisted of me having to take two buses and two trains each way. Like clockwork faithfully, each day at the same time, you could find me sitting at this one particular bus shed at the park and ride waiting to go home.
This one particular day, I missed my traveling connections with the buses and trains and I was upset to say the least. One might even say I threw an "unholy tantrum". I said so many profane words that I think that I may have even made up a few. Now I consider myself to be a patient woman, but that day I was tired and I wasn't in the mood for delays.
When I was finally able to catch my bus to connect me to my last bus, tragically I came upon a series of emergency vehicles. There were fire engines, police cars, ambulances and a crane. I had found out that a lady had been sitting exactly where I would have normally been. What happened was, the bus driver accidentally accelerated instead of braking and the bus jumped the curb trapping her underneath and killing her.
Even though I felt the utmost heartbreak and sympathy, I was mortified, because had I would've made my connections I WOULD have been the one sitting there. God's Divine Intervention! Immediately my mind thought of the what ifs. What if I did make my connections? What if I was the one sitting there? There was so much confusion and questions, yet no answers.
However, instead of attitude, there was gratitude! I was grateful to God for His infinite wisdom, protection and yet again Divine Intervention! The Bible continuously tells us to be patient. We are to wait on the Lord for His voice, guidance and Word. You see you never know what God is doing or what kind of hurt, harm or danger He's protecting you from. This reminds me of reading stories about people saying how they missed their flights or were running late going into work just before the tragedy struck at the World Trade Center with the Twin Towers.
If He tells you no, then it's no and it's for your own good, even though you may not understand why (Proverbs 3:5) but know it's for the best. So instead of being frustrated and getting angry, just be grateful and say "thank you Jesus"!
In closing, let's remember to always give God the praise and continuously say thank you for things seen and unseen and to be grateful for His Divine Intervention. Remember, patience is one of the fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23).
